Tissue Filler Injections

Services Available Collagen is a fibrous protein present in our bodies. It is a type of framework, which helps to maintain the shape and contours of our skin and other structures. As skin ages, the amount of collagen decreases, allowing for laxity and sagging.

Commercially-available tissue fillers are used to fill facial creases and wrinkles caused by aging and changes due to sun damage. Fillers are also usefull to smooth skin imperfections caused by scarring, such as those caused by acne.

Asethetic Medicine of New Hampshire offers 2 fillers as follows:
Restylane®, a filler with a duration of 6 months has just been approved by the FDA.
Radiance®, produced by Bioform is also available for treatment of nasolabial folds and scars, including acne scarring. Radiance has a duration of 2 to 5 years.

The tissue fillers are injected using a smooth, fine 30 gauge needle with the intention of filling the skin depression. There may be a stinging sensation during each injection. A anesthetic cream may be used or a local aetetheic injection may be used prior to the procedure to decrease the discomfort. Repeat filler injections will probably be needed after several months, as the filler is eventually metabolized by the body.

During your consultation with the physician, the selection of an appropriate filler for your situation will be discussed. Other wrinkle-reducing solutions will also be presented.
