Hair Removal

Services Available The Aesthetic Medicine of New Hamphsire Center uses the Syneron Aurora DS hair removal system. The Aurora uses Intense Pusled Light (IPL) combined with radio-frequency (RF) energy and skin cooling to selectively heat the hair follicle while protecting the surrounding skin. The Center also has the Syneron Polaris System, which is a laser combined with RF energy and skin cooling. This may also be used for hair removal.

The light is absorbed selectively by the pigment (melanin) in the hair, producing heat at the hair root. The RF energy adds an additonal energy source to compliment the IPL or laser energy allowing treatment of all hair colors and skin types. Each light pulse and RF energy pulse lasts only a fraction of a second. The resistance of the skin is constantly measured to determine the optimum energy requirement. Surface skin cooling adds an additional level of skin protection.

The Aurora and Polaris use a broad beam of energy allowing hair removal from all areas of the body in a short time. The number of treatments to remove the unwanted hair depends on the area involved, hair density and skin and hair color. During the initial consultation the physician will give you an estimate of the number of treatment sessions needed.
