Facial Botox® Treatment

Services Available "Dynamic wrinkles" are the facial creases caused by overactivity of the underlying muscles. The most common examples are the "frown lines" between the eyes and on the forehead and the "crow's feet" adjacent to the eyes. These lines may add years to our appearance or give the impression of fatigue, worry or anger. Relaxation of the muscles involved causes flattening of the creases and a calm appearance.

Botox is a purified natural protein which causes relaxation of the target muscles without causing an alteration of the facial muscles of expression. Botox has been used successfully for 15 years, starting initially as a treatment for medical problems in all age groups where overactive muscles require relaxation, and more recently, as an aesthetic treatment for wrinkles.

Botox is injected just below the skin using a very fine, smooth 50 gauge needle. The number of injections depends on the extent of the area being treated. The sensation is a slight stinging feeling lasting a few seconds. Local anesthetic creams may be used to decrease the stinging.

The effect of the initial treatment generally wears off after approximately 5 months. However, repeated treatments tend to prolong the duration of periods of relaxation. Many patients may eventually go 6 to 12 months between treatments.

On your initial consultation the physician will discuss if Botox is appropriate for you.
